Emma Roberts and Cody John have officially married, following a relationship that has spanned more than four years. The 35-year-old actress, known for her roles in "American Horror Story" and "Scream Queens," wed the "In the Dark" and "Wu-Tang: An American Saga" actor during a private ceremony held at a home in Idaho on July 25.
For the occasion, Roberts opted for a custom off-white silk chiffon gown designed by Monique Lhuillier. The intricate creation, which the designer spent nearly 1,000 hours and nine months crafting, was intended to evoke an "antique ghost doll" aesthetic. The dress was specifically engineered to transform throughout the evening, allowing the bride to showcase five distinct looks. Reflecting on her partner's reaction to her fashion choices, Roberts noted that while John would not have minded if she wore jeans, he would certainly be impressed by the gown.
The celebration continued with an after-party, for which Roberts changed into an archival black two-piece set from Lhuillier's 2004 collection. The ensemble featured a corset top paired with a layered silk organza skirt. Roberts expressed her affinity for the unexpected choice, noting that the vintage-inspired look could appear as though it were from a century ago or the present day.
The couple, who first went public with their relationship in August 2022 when John posted a photo of them together on a boat, have largely maintained a private life. They announced their engagement in July 2024. Roberts, the daughter of Kelly Cunningham and Eric Roberts and niece of Julia Roberts, is also a mother to 5-year-old son, Rhodes Robert Hedlund, whom she shares with her former partner Garrett Hedlund. The two have previously shared glimpses of their collaborative approach to co-parenting, including family trips to celebrate their son's birthday.
"I love the idea of wearing black for the after-party," Emma Roberts told Vogue. "We love doing something that’s a little unexpected. This looks like it could be totally vintage from 100 years ago, or from now."
"He wouldn’t care if I wore jeans," the "Scream Queens" actress said of John's reaction. "But he’s gonna definitely die for this."
