A fatal shooting occurred in the northeastern section of Columbus, Ohio, on Monday, near the Alrahma Mosque. According to local broadcaster 10TV, law enforcement officers were dispatched to the area following reports of gunfire.

One individual was pronounced dead at the scene. A second casualty was also discovered by authorities, though their current medical condition was not immediately disclosed.

Columbus police Sgt. James Fuqua spoke to reporters regarding the incident, explicitly stating that there is no indication the religious site was the target of the violence. Investigators currently believe the shooting was the result of a dispute involving several people at a nearby apartment complex.

Sgt. Fuqua confirmed that an event was taking place at the mosque at the time the gunfire erupted, but reiterated that police have no reason to believe the mosque was targeted. The investigation is currently in its early stages, and authorities are continuing to work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the shooting.
