At least six migrants lost their lives and 14 others were rescued on Monday after a speedboat carrying them capsized in the Aegean Sea, according to the Greek daily newspaper Kathimerini. The incident occurred approximately 3.7 nautical miles north of Samos island.

Authorities reported that the vessel was traveling at high speed when it capsized following a sharp maneuver. The six victims recovered from the water included five men and one woman, while all 14 survivors were identified as men. Following the capsizing, the Greek Coast Guard initiated a search and rescue operation, deploying an offshore patrol vessel, a rescue boat, and an Air Force helicopter to the area to search for any potentially missing individuals.

This tragedy marked the second fatal incident involving migrants in Greece on the same day. Earlier on Monday, a separate shipwreck occurred off the island of Lesvos, where six migrants, including an infant, died after a speedboat collided with a Greek Coast Guard vessel. Eight people were rescued in the Lesvos incident.
