Two men have turned themselves in to German police following an incident where a vehicle crashed into a security fence at the airport in Leipzig. The two individuals, aged 20 and 32, surrendered to authorities on Sunday night, according to an official statement released by Leipzig police.

The breach was initially discovered at approximately 2300 CET on Saturday. Initial evidence indicated that a vehicle had driven through a section of the perimeter fence along a publicly accessible road, creating a gaping hole. Emergency teams were dispatched to search the airport grounds immediately following the discovery, but they were unable to locate either the vehicle or any intruders at the scene.

Legal counsel for the younger man, who is 20, stated that his client had lost control of the vehicle while driving in the airport vicinity the previous night, resulting in the crash. The lawyer further noted that the man did not possess a driver's licence and had left the scene before arranging for the vehicle to be towed away. The 32-year-old man, identified as the owner of the car, admitted his involvement but did not provide further details to investigators.

Police have seized the vehicle and confirmed that the investigation into the incident is ongoing. The breach has drawn particular attention due to security concerns following an attack at the same airport earlier this summer, which involved an explosives-laden drone. German authorities attributed the August incident to Russia, an allegation that Moscow has denied.
