Airstrikes in a town near Yemen's capital, Sanaa, have killed 22 people and wounded 30 others, according to a spokesman for Yemen’s Houthi-run Health Ministry. The casualties, reported on Saturday, were described as being mostly women and children.
Anees Alasbahi, the spokesman for the Houthi-run Health Ministry, identified the location of the attack as the village of al-Shariya. In his statement to The Associated Press, Alasbahi explicitly accused Saudi Arabia of carrying out the strikes. There has been no immediate comment from Saudi Arabia regarding the accusation.
The incident follows a separate attack reported just one day earlier, in which Houthi officials stated that 30 people were killed in strikes on a market in southern Yemen. The Iranian-backed Houthis and Yemen’s Saudi-backed military have each blamed the other for that earlier strike.
