US President Donald Trump announced on Saturday that he has offered the position of White House press secretary to Dana White, the head of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). In a post on his Truth Social account, Trump described White as a "violent Fighter and Warrior" and stated that he would be a press secretary "like none other." The president concluded his public offer with the direct appeal, "Dana, please take the job!"
Speaking to reporters in London on Saturday evening, White did not provide specific details regarding the offer but confirmed he was flying to Washington immediately. He noted that he is scheduled to meet with Trump on Monday, adding, "I'm sure we'll have more to talk about after that." White also remarked that he currently holds "a lot of jobs." Earlier that day, White shared an image on his Instagram story showing himself standing behind a White House press conference lectern, accompanied by the caption, "On to the next chapter."
The two men have maintained a close relationship for years, with Trump frequently attending UFC events and White speaking at several of the president's rallies, including an event on the eve of the January 2025 inauguration. The vacancy in the press office follows the resignation of Katie Zacharia, who stepped down after less than five days in the role following an awkward first press briefing. Zacharia had succeeded Karoline Leavitt, who announced in August that she was leaving the position to focus on her family. Trump had previously described Leavitt as one of his "most trusted aides" and confirmed she would continue to serve as an outside advisor, calling her one of the best press secretaries in the history of the office.
