Inter Milan directors are continuing their pursuit of Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones, confirming to Cristian Chivu that the player remains his top target for the central midfield position. Despite their clear interest, the Nerazzurri have not yet reached an agreement with the Premier League side, as they are unwilling to match Liverpool’s current €40m asking price. A previous offer of €25m submitted by Inter was rejected.
The Nerazzurri, however, are confident that the Reds will be forced to lower their demands in the coming weeks given that the English midfielder has less than a year left in his contract and doesn’t seem to be part of Andoni Iraola’s long-term plans. To facilitate a potential move, Inter acknowledges that they must first create roster space by offloading other midfielders currently on the squad.
Behind the scenes, Inter executives Beppe Marotta and Piero Ausilio are managing these negotiations from Italy rather than traveling to Asia with the rest of the team. As the club works on this transfer, they are also focused on integrating former Manchester City defender Stones, who is presently undergoing medical examinations in Milan. The reigning Serie A champions are hopeful that Jones will join the squad to reunite with his compatriot at the San Siro this summer.
