Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has declared that Türkiye is ramping up its diplomatic initiatives to help bring an end to the conflict between the United States and Iran. Speaking during a Friday phone call with United Arab Emirates President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Erdogan emphasized Ankara's commitment to a peace-oriented diplomatic strategy to resolve the ongoing crises in the region.
During the discussion, which also touched upon bilateral relations alongside regional and global developments, Erdogan made it clear that Türkiye would refuse to accept any attacks targeting nations it views as brothers in the region.
Since the onset of the US-Iran conflict, Ankara has consistently promoted dialogue between Washington and Tehran, keeping open lines of communication with both capitals as well as other regional administrations.
This diplomatic push builds on previous high-level engagements. In May, Erdogan participated in a major teleconference with US President Donald Trump and leaders from the UAE, Qatar, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Bahrain, and Pakistan to address developments surrounding Iran. During that call, the Turkish leader urged for disputes to be settled through dialogue and diplomacy, expressing Türkiye's readiness to assist in executing any agreement reached between the US and Iran.
Following those talks, Erdogan held a separate conversation with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian. In that call, he reaffirmed that Türkiye stood prepared to offer all necessary assistance to help steer the US-Iran process toward a peaceful resolution.
When Washington and Tehran announced an interim agreement in June, Erdogan hailed the development as a crucial milestone toward resolving the hostilities, highlighting that Türkiye has steadily maintained a "diplomacy-first" stance throughout the entire crisis.
