Bayer Leverkusen are reportedly on the verge of securing Miguel Gutiérrez from Napoli as the long-term successor to Alejandro Grimaldo. The move follows the departure of the Spanish full-back, who was sold to Atlético Madrid for a fee reported to be approximately €22 million.
Gutiérrez, who is being brought in to bolster the left side of the defense, made 36 appearances for Napoli during the 2025/26 campaign, recording one goal and one assist during that span. As the club looks to finalize this transfer, "Die Werkself" are also reportedly exploring options to strengthen the opposite side of their defense. KRC Genk right-back Zakaria El Ouahdi has been identified as a potential candidate under consideration for the right-back position.
