Cristian Chivu has made it clear that Inter Milan still requires an additional winger or wing-back before the summer transfer window concludes. Speaking after the Nerazzurri's pre-season friendly victory over Manchester City, Chivu also expressed his relief that no players sustained injuries during the match.

Inter faced Manchester City in Hong Kong as part of their summer tour. The match ended in a 1-1 draw, with goals from Divin Mubama for City and Benjamin Pavard for Inter, before the Italian side secured a win on penalties.

Chivu emphasized that the primary positive outcome from the game was the absence of injuries. "I’m happy that nobody got hurt, that’s the most important thing in friendlies," he stated. "We arrived two days ago, we did a light training session outside yesterday, but the boys brought out the pride of great champions." He added that the team showed excellent tactical understanding in the first half, despite not being in peak condition.

Regarding the team's transfer needs, Chivu acknowledged that the squad is still short in wide areas. "If you do the counting, you get the same results as us," he told reporters. "It depends on how you look at it. Maybe we’re missing one on the left. We have three wingers at the moment, or rather three and a half because Carlos (Augusto) can play there as well. And depending on how we look at Luis Henrique, who can play on the right or left, we’re still missing one. There’s still a long way to go in the window, we need to be patient and choose well."

Looking ahead to the remainder of the pre-season tour, Chivu wants to see continued development and health from his players. "We want to train well and grow even further. The games are the best way of training. We have to try and stay healthy and avoid any injuries. That’s the main goal in August with all these long journeys."
