Indian all-rounder Manav Suthar is set to resume his stint in English county cricket, with Warwickshire confirming his return for the final four matches of the Rothesay County Championship. The 23-year-old, who has been named in India's squad for the upcoming two-match Test series in Sri Lanka next month, will join the club in September for fixtures against Hampshire, Glamorgan, Essex, and Leicestershire. His contract is expected to run through 2026.
This marks Suthar's second appearance for Warwickshire this season. During his earlier stint, he made a significant impact against Somerset and Yorkshire, claiming 11 wickets across two matches, including a maiden five-wicket haul against Somerset. Since his first-class debut for Rajasthan in 2022, Suthar has demonstrated strong all-round capabilities, bagging 147 wickets from 32 games so far at an average of 25.13 with three 10-wicket hauls, alongside 1071 runs at an average of 26.12, which include one century and six half-centuries.
The young spinner recently enjoyed a standout international debut during the one-off Test against Afghanistan in New Chandigarh. Although he contributed 28 runs with the bat in India's first-innings total of 564/8 declared, his primary impact came with the ball. Suthar returned figures of 6/33 from 22 overs in his debut spell as Afghanistan were dismissed for 152. He added another wicket in the second innings as India secured a dominant victory by an innings and 300 runs, earning him the Player of the Match award for his seven-wicket haul. With his current form and the spin-friendly conditions expected in Sri Lanka, Suthar is anticipated to play a pivotal role in India's bowling attack during his first away tour.
