Two Palestinians passed away on Tuesday due to wounds sustained during Israeli army fire in the Gaza Strip. A medical source confirmed the deaths, noting that the casualties occurred as Tel Aviv continues to engage in near-daily violations of the ceasefire agreement that has been in place since last October.
According to the medical source, one individual succumbed to injuries resulting from Israeli shelling that took place west of Khan Younis in southern Gaza on Monday. The second fatality involved a person who died from serious injuries sustained during an Israeli strike on the Al-Amal neighbourhood of Khan Younis several days prior.
Local sources reported that Israeli military vehicles have been conducting heavy fire operations against residential homes and tents housing displaced civilians in areas south of Khan Younis. Furthermore, Israeli artillery targeted the Bureij refugee camp and the vicinity of the Wadi Gaza bridge located in central Gaza. In northern Gaza, eyewitnesses reported that Israeli vehicles opened heavy fire toward homes in Beit Lahia, accompanied by intense artillery shelling.
These ongoing attacks persist despite calls from US President Donald Trump for Israel to cease strikes on the territory. In a Fox News interview on August 17, Trump stated, "Israelis should not be striking in Gaza. Hamas agreed to lay down their weapons" under his specific plan to end the war.
Data from Gaza’s Health Ministry indicates that since the October 10, 2025, ceasefire began, Israeli violations have resulted in 1,286 Palestinian deaths and 4,257 injuries. Since the onset of the war in October 2023, the Israeli army has killed more than 73,000 people and injured over 174,000 others.
