The State of Qatar has issued a formal rejection of recent claims appearing in Israeli media that suggested Doha had consented to take part in military action against Iran. In a statement released on Thursday, the International Media Office described these allegations as an attempt by outside individuals to draw Qatar into the ongoing conflict, disrupt its role as a mediator, and encourage regional instability and chaos.
Doha emphasized that since the inception of the conflict between the United States and Iran, it has consistently maintained that it has not participated and will not participate in any military maneuvers against neighboring countries. The government stated that such misleading reports will not deter Qatar from its diplomatic initiatives aimed at resolving the conflict. The nation intends to continue working with both regional and international partners to secure a sustainable agreement that addresses the concerns of all involved parties.
The International Media Office did not name the specific Israeli outlets responsible for the reports, nor did it offer further elaboration on the matter. Regional tensions had previously flared in February when the United States and Israel initiated a joint offensive against Iran, leading Tehran to retaliate with drone and missile strikes directed at Gulf nations that host US assets. While the two sides reached a memorandum of understanding mediated by Pakistan last month to seek a lasting peace, recent days have seen renewed escalation, including an exchange of attacks near the Strait of Hormuz.
