Matt Damon traveled to Seoul, South Korea, on Tuesday, August 4, for the premiere of the Christopher Nolan film, The Odyssey. The 55-year-old actor was supported at the event by his wife of over two decades, Luciana Damon, as well as their younger daughters, 17-year-old Gia and 15-year-old Stella. While the family generally maintains a private life away from the spotlight, they have occasionally appeared at professional events for the actor, some of which feature Luciana Damon as an executive producer.
This recent outing follows a series of appearances by the family to support the actor's work. All four daughters, including Alexia Barroso and 20-year-old Isabella Damon, joined the couple at the London premiere of The Odyssey on July 6. Additionally, Isabella Damon appeared on the red carpet with her parents at the New York premiere on July 14. The family previously attended the 2024 premiere of the Apple TV project, The Instigators.
Reflecting on the presence of his children at these events, the Oscar winner shared his emotions during the London premiere, telling Entertainment Tonight that he experienced a "teary moment" seeing his family together and realizing how grown up they have become. Despite their private nature, the actor keeps his family close to him, sporting tattoos of his daughters' names on his arm.
Preparing for his role as Odysseus required significant physical changes, including a strict workout routine and a gluten-free diet. At the request of director Christopher Nolan, Damon also grew a substantial beard. He noted that his children were not entirely fond of the look, joking that they thought he resembled Santa Claus. The actor's children have historically offered candid feedback on his work. In a past instance involving the 2020 film Ford v Ferrari, his youngest daughter, Stella, admitted to falling asleep during a screening, though she maintained that the parts she did see were quite exciting.
