Addressing the press, Marotta highlighted the significance of their recent domestic success, which was achieved through a strong work ethic and the collective efforts of the coaching staff and players. Despite this domestic dominance, the president was candid about the need for improvement on the European stage. He noted that while the club faced difficulties and competed against financial powerhouses, they must strive for better results in the Champions League, acknowledging that the previous season’s exit to Bodo/Glimt was a reminder of the sport's unpredictability.
Marotta addressed the challenges of the summer transfer window, admitting that the club has faced obstacles in bidding wars, including the loss of Marco Palestra to Chelsea. He maintained that spending the most money does not guarantee success, emphasizing instead that Inter relies on a winning project built on consistency, quality, and player value. He further warned against complacency, noting that no team has won back-to-back Serie A titles since 2020, making a repeat an historic achievement that the team must remain hungry to attain.
The president also underscored the importance of a sustainable business model. He pointed out that the club is now out of the Settlement Agreement with UEFA and noted that owners Oaktree have invested €100,000 into the Interello camp to improve infrastructure. Marotta highlighted the club's commitment to its youth academy, noting that they possess at least four players capable of contributing in Europe, alongside a successful Under-23 and women’s program. As they look forward, Marotta reaffirmed that the club remains focused on raising the bar while maintaining its sustainable approach.
