Luka Modric has reportedly finalized his future at the San Siro, with reports emerging on Thursday that he has already signed a new one-year contract extension with AC Milan. The agreement, which includes a net salary of €3.5m plus performance-based bonuses, is pending only a formal confirmation from the club, which could be issued as early as this afternoon.
The veteran midfielder, who is set to turn 41 in September, initially joined Milan in the summer of 2025 on a one-year deal that included an option for an additional season. While his individual performance during the 2025-26 campaign was widely considered a success, the season concluded on a difficult note for the team. Milan finished fifth in the standings, narrowly missing out on Champions League qualification.
The disappointing league finish triggered significant changes at the club, resulting in the departures of head coach Massimiliano Allegri, sporting director Igli Tare, technical director Geoffrey Moncada, and CEO Giorgio Furlani immediately following the season's end. These exits sparked speculation that several key players might seek moves away from the club this summer.
Modric, who had been contemplating his future and whether to continue his playing career into the 2026-27 season, has ultimately decided to remain with the Rossoneri.
