Luka Modric has reached a full agreement to sign a new one-year contract with Milan, securing his place at the club until June 2027. The Croatia international, who is nearing his 41st birthday, had previously expressed uncertainty regarding his future ahead of the 2026 World Cup, with retirement being a potential option. However, the midfielder has opted to continue his playing career at the highest level with the Rossoneri.
Reports from both MilanNews and Fabrizio Romano indicate that the deal is finalized, with only the formal signing of documents remaining. Under the terms of the new agreement, Modric is set to earn €3.5m per season, excluding additional bonuses.
Modric arrived at Milan last summer as a free agent following a long and decorated tenure at Real Madrid, having previously played for clubs including Tottenham Hotspur and Dinamo Zagreb. During his debut season with the Italian side, he made 37 appearances, contributing two goals and three assists. His impact could have been even greater, but he was sidelined for a portion of the campaign due to a fractured cheekbone, though he managed to return to action ahead of the original medical schedule.
