Kuwait has reported a series of missile and drone strikes, prompting the country's armed forces to engage hostile aerial targets within its airspace. In an official statement issued on Tuesday, the army confirmed that its air defense systems were actively intercepting the incoming projectiles, noting that any audible explosions heard by the public were the result of these defensive operations. Authorities have urged residents to follow all safety instructions as the situation unfolds.
The Government Communication Center, citing the Ministry of Defence, officially characterized the incident as an attack involving hostile missiles and drones. Ministry spokesperson Saud Al-Atwan issued a stern warning to citizens and residents, instructing them to avoid approaching, touching, or photographing any debris found on the ground. Furthermore, officials have requested that the public refrain from sharing photos or videos of the affected sites or locations where shrapnel may have landed on social media platforms.
This incident follows similar developments across the region earlier on Tuesday, as countries including Jordan and Bahrain reported the interception of Iranian missiles and other aerial threats. These strikes occurred after Iran launched operations targeting US military facilities. The recent surge in hostilities marks a significant escalation in the ongoing tensions between Iran and the US regarding shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, occurring despite a previous Pakistani-mediated memorandum of understanding intended to facilitate a lasting peace agreement.
