Kevin De Bruyne and Napoli are reportedly preparing to end their partnership after only one year, as the Belgian midfielder looks toward the final chapter of his professional career. According to reports from L’Equipe, intermediaries have already been appointed to secure a new club for the player, with potential interest emerging from sides in the Saudi Pro League and Turkey, including Galatasaray. 1
The move to Napoli followed the expiration of De Bruyne’s contract at Manchester City last summer. While he initially viewed the switch as a lifestyle choice, his time in Italy proved frustrating. A significant injury kept him sidelined for several months, and upon his return, the midfielder expressed dissatisfaction with the defensive tactics employed by then-coach Antonio Conte. With the recent arrival of Max Allegri, whose tactical philosophy is also heavily focused on defensive structures, it appears unlikely that the player’s situation would improve.
De Bruyne, who celebrated his 35th birthday last month, remains under contract with the Italian club until June 2027, although the agreement includes an option for an additional year. Given that he joined the club as a free agent from Manchester City, it is widely expected that Napoli will allow him to depart for a nominal fee to remove his wages from their financial books.
