Bumrah had participated in the previous match, completing his full quota of overs to finish with bowling figures of 1-45. This followed his performance in the first ODI, where he delivered a economical spell of 1-31 across nine overs. His absence is one of several changes for the Indian side, which currently finds the series level at 1-1 following their defeat in Cardiff.
