Inter Miami CF officially announced the signing of Brazilian national team midfielder Casemiro on Wednesday, following his departure from Premier League side Manchester United. The 34-year-old, who was a free agent, has signed a contract that runs through the 2027 MLS Sprint Season, with an additional option extending until June 2029. As part of the move, Inter Miami also acquired the player’s Discover Priority rights from the LA Galaxy.
Casemiro arrives in South Florida after representing Brazil at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. His professional career spans 14 years in Europe, where he played for Real Madrid, FC Porto, and Manchester United, having started his journey at São Paulo FC. Across 663 career club appearances, he has recorded 73 goals and 61 assists, securing 21 trophies, including three LaLiga titles and five UEFA Champions League crowns. Internationally, he has earned 91 caps for Brazil with 10 goals and 6 assists, and was a member of the 2019 Copa América winning squad.
Expressing his gratitude, Casemiro stated that his motivation is centered on winning and growth. He noted that the club's project and the effort made to bring him to Miami were significant factors in his decision, adding that he intends to repay the trust shown in him both in training and on matchdays. Managing owner Jorge Mas praised the signing, highlighting Casemiro’s leadership and winning mentality as core values that align with the club's ambition to become a global benchmark. Co-owner David Beckham also welcomed the veteran, noting his long-standing admiration for the player's career.
The midfielder joins a squad that features fellow Designated Players Lionel Messi and Germán Berterame, as well as midfielder Rodrigo De Paul. Casemiro is familiar with several of his new teammates, having previously played alongside left-back Sergio Reguilón at both Real Madrid and Manchester United. Historically, he has also faced off against former Barcelona stars who previously played for Inter Miami, such as Luis Suárez, Jordi Alba, and Sergio Busquets.
Inter Miami currently sits second in the Eastern Conference with 31 points following the World Cup break. The team is led by head coach Guillermo Hoyos, following the departure of Javier Mascherano in mid-April. The club recently established a permanent home at the newly opened Nu Stadium in Miami.
