Bangladesh interim T20I captain Towhid Hridoy is focusing on a fresh start as the team prepares to face Zimbabwe in a three-match T20I series. The matches are scheduled to take place at the Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo, with the opening game set for July 15. The team arrived in Bulawayo following a difficult campaign in Harare, where they suffered an innings-and-85-run defeat in the one-off Test and a 2-1 loss in the One Day International series. Despite the initial struggles, the squad managed to avoid a clean sweep by securing a victory in the final ODI, a momentum they hope to carry into the upcoming T20I contests.

Towhid Hridoy, who previously made his captaincy debut against Australia, will continue to lead the side in the absence of regular T20I skipper Litton Das. Litton remains unavailable as he recovers from a calf injury that also kept him out of the home series against Australia. Additionally, left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman is sidelined for the T20Is after sustaining a hamstring injury during the first ODI in Harare.

Addressing the upcoming challenges, Hridoy expressed optimism about the change in format and venue. He acknowledged that while Zimbabwe is a formidable opponent in their home conditions, the Bangladesh team is prepared to address their past mistakes. The skipper emphasized that the team will adopt a one-game-at-a-time mentality, focusing specifically on the series opener. Hridoy noted that the players must adapt to the unique conditions in Bulawayo, including the colder weather, as they strive to maintain the positive tempo established at the end of the ODI series. Following the first match, the second and third games of the series are set to be played at the same venue on July 17 and July 19.
