Kyle Shanahan has served as the 49ers head coach since February 2017. During his tenure, he has guided the franchise to two Super Bowl appearances, including a run in 2024 that featured Purdy under center, though he has yet to secure a championship victory. The team faces pressure to end a 31-year Super Bowl drought in the upcoming season.
As the team prepares for the new campaign, the 49ers are scheduled to begin training camp on July 26 at the SAP Performance Facility in Santa Clara, California. Rookies are set to report to the facility this Saturday, followed by the veterans on the July 26 start date. Last season, Purdy led San Francisco to the postseason, where the team defeated the Philadelphia Eagles in the wild-card round before suffering a 41-6 defeat against the Seattle Seahawks in the divisional round.
