Erdogan Visits Doha to Offer Condolences for Former Qatari Emir

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan arrived in Doha on Tuesday to offer his formal condolences to Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani following the death of his father, the former Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani. The former leader, who was 74 at the time of his passing, served as the country's ruler from 1995 to 2013 and is widely regarded as one of the primary architects of modern Qatar, having overseen a period of significant economic growth.

President Erdogan landed at Hamad International Airport aboard the presidential aircraft, where he was welcomed by Qatar’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defence Affairs, Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman bin Hassan Al Thani. The Turkish leader is accompanied on the visit by First Lady Emine Erdogan.

The President's official delegation includes Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Simsek, intelligence chief Ibrahim Kalin, Head of Communications Burhanettin Duran, President of Religious Affairs Safi Arpagus, and Türkiye's Ambassador to Doha, Mustafa Goksu.
