Atalanta dominated their friendly encounter against Schalke 04, securing a comfortable 3-0 victory. The win was driven by goals from Gianluca Scamacca, Lazar Samardzic, and Nikola Krstovic. The match saw the return of Charles De Ketelaere to the starting lineup, his first appearance since his World Cup campaign with Belgium. Giorgio Scalvini nearly opened the scoring after eight minutes, but his effort hit the woodwork. Shortly after, Gianluca Gaetano provided the assist for Scamacca to break the deadlock.

Schalke 04 attempted to respond, testing goalkeeper Marco Carnesecchi and hitting the frame of the goal through Karaman, but their efforts were neutralized. Samardzic doubled the lead on a counter-attack before the break. In the second half, Carnesecchi remained sharp, making a decisive save on Adamu, while Krstovic sealed the result by utilizing clever footwork to evade Katic and score the final goal.

Meanwhile, Sassuolo concluded their pre-season preparations in Germany with a hard-fought 3-2 loss to Augsburg. Andrea Pinamonti opened the scoring for the Italian side by converting a penalty earned by Josh Doig, followed by a brilliant solo effort from Cristian Volpato, who sprinted forward and dribbled past the goalkeeper. Despite the strong start, Augsburg staged a comeback as Fellhauer and Kade capitalized on difficulties goalkeeper Arijanet Muric faced when dealing with crosses. Behrens ultimately completed the turnaround to secure a 3-2 victory for the German hosts.

The Atalanta squad for the match featured Carnesecchi, Bellanova (Zappacosta 46), Kossounou (I Sulemana 61), Scalvini, Ahanor (Bernasconi 46), Ederson (Kolasinac 61), Gaetano (De Roon 61), Samardzic (Pasalic 46), De Ketelaere (K Sulemana 46), Raspadori (Cassa 70), and Scamacca (Krstovic 46).
