Hampshire has officially confirmed the signing of all-rounder Ashutosh Sharma for the men's Metro Bank One-Day Cup, with the announcement made on Monday, July 20. The 27-year-old athlete currently plays for the Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League (IPL), a franchise co-owned by Hampshire's own owners, GMR.

Giles White, the Director of Cricket at Hampshire, expressed enthusiasm regarding the new acquisition. He noted that Sharma is a player of significant potential who has demonstrated his ability to perform at a high standard during his recent IPL tenure. White added that the club is eager to integrate him into the squad and witness his contributions as they strive to surpass their performance from the previous year's competition.

Sharma brings a wealth of T20 experience to the team. Over the last two IPL seasons, he has accumulated more than 375 runs for the Delhi Capitals, maintaining an average of 31.25 and a striking strike rate of 170. Notably, he holds the record for the fastest T20 fifty by an Indian player, having reached the milestone in just 11 balls for Railways against Arunachal Pradesh during the 2023 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

His professional journey began in 2017 with Madhya Pradesh. To date, he has participated in 91 matches across all three formats and currently represents Railways in domestic cricket. His IPL career started with the Punjab Kings, where he debuted as an Impact Substitute and scored 31 runs off 17 balls. Ahead of the 2025 IPL season, he was signed by the Delhi Capitals for INR 3.80 crore. In List A cricket specifically, Sharma has recorded 458 runs across 21 matches.
