According to Türkiye’s Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), the seismic event took place at 3 a.m. local time (0000GMT) at a depth of 5.47 kilometers (3.4 miles).
While initial reports linked the quake to the northeastern Ismailia province, Egyptian authorities later revised the epicenter location to be 38 kilometers from the city of Suez. In the immediate aftermath, Android users in the affected region received automated earthquake alerts indicating a magnitude of 5.9, though official assessments from seismologists continue to analyze incoming data and may update intensity mapping as more information becomes available.
