Surrey’s innings was characterized by steady accumulation on a pitch noted for its sluggishness and variable bounce. Adam Thomas provided early support, scoring 41 in a 88-run second-wicket stand before being caught behind off Daz Ahmed. Sibley, who was dropped by Ahmed while on 46, capitalized on the opportunity to build pressure alongside Burns. Burns reached his half-century in 48 deliveries, and the duo maintained a high scoring rate during the middle overs. Following the dismissals of Sibley and Burns, Josh Blake provided a late-innings surge, hitting 36 off just 17 balls to help Surrey reach 311.
In response, Gloucestershire’s chase began with a rapid 70-run opening stand between James Bracey and Cameron Bancroft. Bracey scored 39 off 29 balls before falling to new signing Hishaam Khan, triggering a middle-order collapse. The home side lost five wickets for 63 runs, with Bancroft dismissed for 33 by James Taylor, and Ollie Price, Miles Hammond, and Jack Taylor falling in quick succession to Tom Ealham, Benji Floros, and Thomas, respectively.
Graeme van Buuren attempted to keep Gloucestershire in the contest with a swashbuckling 85 from 79 balls. Despite a 52-run seventh-wicket partnership with Ahmed, the target proved too demanding as Ralphie Albert claimed three wickets and James Taylor added two. Gloucestershire was eventually dismissed for 292 in 49 overs, falling 19 runs short of the target.
