Frosinone finds itself at the center of a Glasgow-based transfer battle as both Celtic and Rangers vie for the signature of Fares Ghedjemis. The competition for the talented player follows a period of significant growth, with Frosinone director Piero Doronzo noting that the player's market value has effectively doubled since the January transfer window.
Celtic manager Martin O’Neill recently acknowledged his club's ongoing interest in Ghedjemis, confirming that they remain in the hunt following a failed attempt to secure the player in January 2026. Addressing the reports, O’Neill stated, "I don’t know whether Rangers are trying to sign him. But we have a very strong interest in him. I don’t know about the other thing."
The interest comes after a previously reported asking price of at least €15m. Doronzo provided insight into why a move to Celtic did not materialize earlier this year, explaining that the club president preferred to respect the player's wishes. "The President always says Frosinone is not a prison, so he wanted to hear what the player had to say," Doronzo remarked. According to the director, Ghedjemis expressed a desire to stay and help the team win the league. The club's decision to reject the initial financial offer was ultimately vindicated, as Doronzo noted, "It was a risk, but his intentions and the courage of the club to turn down that money were rewarded. As of today, his transfer value has doubled, and he was decisive for us."
