Lecce has issued a formal warning that it may initiate disciplinary action against striker Lameck Banda after the player failed to report for the 2026-27 pre-season training camp. The club confirmed on the afternoon of the announcement that Banda had been summoned to begin preparations under coach Eusebio Di Francesco. According to the club, the player initially requested a delay, citing issues with red tape.

The situation escalated when Banda missed a subsequent deadline to return to Italy, leading the club to lose patience and release an official statement. Lecce leadership stated they will now investigate the circumstances surrounding the delay to determine if the player could have taken further steps to ensure his travel plans were not compromised. Following this investigation, the club plans to evaluate the necessary disciplinary action to take.

Banda remains under contract with Lecce until June 2027, though his future at the club is currently described as uncertain. The Zambia international joined Lecce in the summer of 2022, arriving from Maccabi Petah Tikva for a fee of €2 million plus add-ons. During his time with the team, the attacking winger has made 104 Serie A appearances, contributing nine goals and 10 assists.
