A Ukrainian drone strike targeting a logistics center in western Russia has left seven people dead and 24 others wounded, according to regional officials. The attack occurred at a Wildberries facility located in the town of Kotovsk, within the Tambov region.
Evgeny Pervyshov, the governor of the Tambov region, confirmed the casualties, stating that the seven victims were employees working the night shift when the unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) struck the site. He added that, based on preliminary information, 24 individuals sustained injuries during the incident.
The company Wildberries issued a statement confirming that its logistics complexes in both Kotovsk and Elektrostal, situated in the Moscow region, were targeted. While the firm noted that the fire at the Tambov facility has since been contained, firefighting operations remain ongoing at the site in Elektrostal.
This strike coincides with a significant wave of drone activity targeting the Moscow region. Sergei Sobyanin, the mayor of the Russian capital, reported that over 370 drones were launched overnight. According to Sobyanin, the majority were neutralized by air defense forces, with 64 enemy UAVs destroyed as they approached Moscow.
Kiev has maintained that its ongoing campaign of striking targets within Russia serves as necessary retribution for the barrages Moscow has conducted against Ukrainian territory over the past four years. Meanwhile, international diplomatic efforts led by the United States to resolve the conflict have stalled in recent months as Washington has shifted its focus toward the conflict with Iran.
