Bangladesh all-rounder Mohammad Saifuddin has credited a more disciplined approach to match conditions for the team's recent success in leveling the T20I series against Zimbabwe. Following a 34-run victory at the Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo, the Player of the Match emphasized that the touring side had to overcome significant challenges to adjust to the local environment.
Saifuddin noted that while the team has performed consistently at home, adapting to away conditions remains a hurdle. The squad arrived in Zimbabwe only five to seven days prior to the series, leaving little time for preparation. To bridge this gap, the team engaged in extensive discussions regarding weather and wicket conditions, which Saifuddin believes proved vital during the second match. The planning sessions, which extended to team dinners, ensured the players were aligned on their execution.
A key focus of these tactical meetings was the variance in ground dimensions. With one boundary measuring 70 meters and the other approximately 64 meters, the bowling unit had to devise specific strategies to handle the different sides of the pitch. Saifuddin highlighted that these detailed conversations allowed the bowlers to operate effectively, ultimately contributing to the win that kept Bangladesh's hopes of a series victory alive.
However, the victory was tempered by an injury to pace bowler Nahid Rana. The 23-year-old, who delivered a career-best performance in the series opener, sustained a left-side strain during the second game. He was forced to leave the field after bowling 2.3 overs, during which he claimed 1-15. Team physio Bayjedul Islam Khan confirmed the injury and stated that medical staff would observe Rana to determine if a scan is necessary and assess his recovery timeline. The team management remains uncertain regarding his availability for the series decider.
