A fatal helicopter crash occurred Saturday afternoon in the municipality of Sainte-Brigide-d’Iberville, located approximately 50 kilometers, or 31 miles, southeast of Montreal. All four individuals on board the aircraft were pronounced dead at the scene following the incident.
According to Audrey-Anne Bilodeau, a spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec provincial police, the aircraft reportedly encountered difficulties before it went down at about 2:30 p.m. While local firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze caused by the crash within an hour, they could not save the occupants.
Authorities currently believe the helicopter was a private aircraft. Provincial police have not yet released the identities of the victims, nor have they determined the specific cause of the crash. The Transportation Safety Board of Canada has dispatched investigators to the site to conduct an examination of the wreckage and determine what led to the accident.
