According to Trump, the facility will be uniquely equipped to "house, store, and have the rapid ability to use large quantities of sniper ammunition in storage," with the design incorporating specialized sniper facilities on both the roof and the plaza. He further stated that there would be "no facility like this anywhere in the world."
The triumphal arch project has faced significant scrutiny regarding its impact on the historic character of downtown Washington DC. The proposed site, situated in a circle near the Memorial Bridge, has drawn criticism for its potential to obstruct sight lines to prominent landmarks, including the Lincoln Memorial and Arlington National Cemetery, which would flank the structure. Additionally, Democratic members of Congress have raised questions about the arch's proximity to Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport. Last week, the National Park Service issued a formal warning, stating that the project could cause "adverse effects to historic properties" and calling for additional planning before construction commences.
This arch is one of several construction initiatives initiated by Trump that he claims are intended to elevate the visual greatness of the US capital, though critics have frequently dismissed these efforts as thinly veiled attempts to promote his own legacy.
