Türkiye has initiated a new phase in its energy development with the deployment of the Osman Gazi floating production platform to the Black Sea. President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced the move in a video message, characterizing the platform as a vital industrial facility and the inaugural production unit of the "Blue Homeland," which serves as the maritime component of the nation's "Century of Türkiye" initiative.

The platform is outfitted with 21 distinct units designed to process natural gas extracted from wells within the Sakarya Gas Field. According to President Erdogan, the processed gas will be transported to Filyos through a network of subsea pipelines. The project is expected to double daily natural gas production in the Black Sea to 20 million cubic meters, with the government projecting that by 2027, one in every three households in the country will be supplied with domestic natural gas.

Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alparslan Bayraktar oversaw a ceremony at Filyos Port to mark the departure of the Osman Gazi for its operational destination. During the event, Minister Bayraktar described the vessel as Türkiye's first floating natural gas processing facility. He reiterated the production target of 20 million cubic meters per day by 2027 and stated that the operational goal is to ignite the flame in the platform's flare tower at the Sakarya Gas Field before the end of this year.
