Turkish Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmus stated on Saturday that the country's new "Terror-Free Türkiye" initiative is designed to foster greater unity both domestically and across the wider region. Speaking at the closing of the Bosphorus Diplomacy Forum in Istanbul, Kurtulmus described the effort as an initial step in a comprehensive regional process aimed at building a stronger and more secure future. He noted that the initiative serves as a pivotal move after 40 years of challenges, helping to build a “stronger, terror-free region.”
Reflecting on the past four decades, Kurtulmus noted that the nation is moving past a difficult period marked by the loss of thousands of lives and the destruction of numerous villages and cities. He emphasized that the initiative seeks to replace divisive, marginalizing rhetoric with a "language of brotherhood and unity," ensuring that Turks, Kurds, and all other ethnic communities can continue their progress together.
According to the speaker, the scope of this approach extends beyond Türkiye’s borders. He expressed that the initiative will help bring together various communities, including Turks, Kurds, and Arabs, ultimately contributing to the establishment of a stable, terror-free region.
