AS Roma have officially confirmed the permanent signing of centre-forward Santiago Castro from Bologna. The deal, which marks the club's first acquisition of the summer transfer window, is valued at €35 million plus additional bonuses. As part of the agreement, Bologna has retained a 10% sell-on clause for the player.
In an official statement, the club expressed their satisfaction with the arrival of the 2004-born forward, noting that the transaction involves a definitive transfer. Castro, who has previously played for both Vélez Sarsfield and Bologna, recorded 22 goals across 105 appearances for the Rossoblù. During his time in Serie A, he tallied eight goals and five assists in 36 appearances throughout the 2024-25 season, followed by seven goals and three assists in 35 league outings during the 2025-26 campaign.
Upon joining the squad, Castro has selected the number 9 jersey. He is expected to compete for the starting centre-forward position under the guidance of manager Gian Piero Gasperini, where he will join Donyell Malen in the attacking rotation.
