RB Leipzig and Real Madrid have officially reached an agreement regarding the transfer of 19-year-old winger Yan Diomandé. According to reports, the deal follows several rounds of negotiations between the two clubs. The Spanish side is set to pay an initial fee of €125 million, with performance-related bonuses potentially raising the total package to €140 million, of which €10 million is considered to be readily achievable.
The young talent has signed a contract that keeps him at the club through 2030. Notably, the agreement contains no release clause, allowing the Bundesliga side to secure a historic fee for the player. As part of the financial arrangement, Leganés, the club from which Leipzig signed Diomandé last summer for approximately €20 million, is entitled to five percent of Leipzig's transfer profit.
Diomandé’s rise in value has been meteoric; his market valuation climbed from €1.5 million to €90 million following a campaign where he recorded 12 goals and nine assists in 33 competitive appearances. Speculation regarding the move intensified recently when the teenager missed the club's training camp in Austria due to an infection. While some suggested he was attempting to force a transfer, RB Leipzig sporting director Marcel Schäfer maintained that the player was genuinely ill. Diomandé returned to training with the team on Wednesday.
