Las Vegas Raiders tight end Brock Bowers and his high school sweetheart, Cameron Rose Newell, have officially announced their engagement. The couple shared the milestone moment on Thursday through an Instagram reel that captured the surprise proposal.
The video features an anxious Bowers pacing on a green lawn beneath olive tree branches before he leads Newell out. Newell, dressed in a black strapless top and a cream satin skirt, appeared stunned as the couple walked together. Upon reaching the lawn, she asked, "What are you doing right now?" and later stammered in disbelief, "No, what? No, you're not!" as Bowers guided her toward the tree canopy. With Noah Kahan’s song "Stick Season" playing in the background, Bowers dropped to one knee to present the ring.
Overcome with emotion, Newell clutched her hands to her face, repeatedly asking if the moment was real. After accepting the proposal with a tearful "Yes," she pulled Bowers into an embrace and a kiss. In her social media caption, Newell described the event as "the best surprise of my life, right where it all started." Bowers echoed the sentiment, responding, "I love you."
The announcement drew widespread congratulations from the NFL community. Former Georgia teammate and Chargers wide receiver Ladd McConkey offered his support, while his wife, Sydney McConkey, shared her emotional reaction to the video. Other notable figures who sent their well-wishes included Rachel Crosby, wife of Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby; Ann Michael Maye, wife of Patriots quarterback Drake Maye; Amy Pickett, wife of Panthers quarterback Kenny Pickett; and Callahan LaPorta, wife of Lions team end Sam LaPorta. Dallas Cowboys tight end Jake Ferguson and his partner, Haley Cavinder, along with her sister Hanna, also joined in the congratulations.
Bowers and Newell, who both grew up in Napa Valley, have been together since high school and attended their 2021 prom as a couple. They maintained a long-distance relationship while Bowers played at the University of Georgia and Newell attended the University of Tennessee. Newell has been a consistent presence at Raiders games and was by Bowers' side during the 2024 NFL Draft. Previously, the couple made headlines for their attendance at the July 3 wedding of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce at Madison Square Garden, where Bowers wore a dapper, black-tie tuxedo look. Notably, Newell has also gained attention for her one-word reaction to the Raiders TE being ranked above Travis Kelce at No. 1, while Bowers continues to be recognized as a top-tier talent, recently ranked at No. 5.
