A Porter Airlines flight scheduled to depart from Victoria International Airport in British Columbia was canceled last Thursday after a young child refused to sit down and fasten their seatbelt. The Toronto-based carrier reported that both the child's parent and the flight crew made repeated, unsuccessful attempts to secure the child in their seat for departure.
Due to the ongoing situation, the aircraft was forced to return to the terminal to remove both the parent and the child from the plane. The process of deplaning the pair and offloading their baggage caused a significant delay. By the time the flight was ready to proceed, the aircraft had missed the airport's 12:30 a.m. runway closure time.
As a result of the operational constraints, the flight was canceled, and all remaining passengers were required to disembark. Porter Airlines issued an apology to the affected passengers, noting that they were rebooked on a flight the following day.
