Pakistan has issued a strong condemnation following a Houthi attack on a commercial ship in the Red Sea, an incident that claimed the lives of three Pakistani nationals and left another injured. The assault occurred on Tuesday in the Bab al Mandeb Strait, targeting a vessel that was transporting food supplies. In total, the attack resulted in six deaths and left 10 others wounded.
Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar denounced the incident, labeling it a direct violation of international law and a significant threat to maritime security. He emphasized that such acts endanger innocent lives and jeopardize the freedom of navigation. In response, Islamabad is currently engaging with Saudi authorities and the internationally recognized government of Yemen to clarify the details and circumstances of the attack.
Minister Dar has instructed the Pakistani Embassy in Riyadh to coordinate immediately with relevant authorities to facilitate the retrieval and repatriation of the deceased. The embassy has also been directed to provide comprehensive assistance to the injured Pakistani national. The government stated it is closely monitoring the situation and will maintain active communication with all pertinent authorities as the investigation proceeds.
