Santiago Castro has wasted little time in defining his goals at his new club, Roma. The Argentine forward, who recently completed a move from Bologna, shared his excitement about the transfer and his admiration for head coach Gian Piero Gasperini in his first interview with the club's official media channels.

Reflecting on the speed of the transfer, Castro noted that the decision was straightforward once Roma showed clear interest. He described the negotiation process as short, stating that he wanted to join the club from the very first moment. After speaking with the sporting director about the club's expectations and how he could contribute to the manager’s plans, he was fully committed to the move.

The forward was particularly vocal in his support for Gasperini, who successfully guided Roma to Champions League qualification during his debut season. Castro praised the coach’s long-standing reputation in Italy, noting that Gasperini has consistently proven his worth, both during his time at Atalanta and now at Roma. When asked about his specific role on the pitch, Castro emphasized his versatility and willingness to adapt to the manager's tactical needs, stating he is there to support the team above all else.

Addressing his professional background, which includes 22 goals in 105 appearances for Bologna, Castro maintained a humble perspective. He insisted that he does not focus solely on personal statistics, preferring instead to prioritize the collective success of the squad. The young attacker acknowledged that he still has room to improve in all aspects of his game, underscoring a team-first mentality as he prepares for the challenges ahead.

“Quite a short negotiation, actually, because from the very first moment I wanted to come here,” he explained. “I spoke with the sporting director, who told me what they wanted from me. I know what I can do and how I can help the manager and my team-mates. From that moment, I chose Roma.”
