Napoli Nears Miguel Gutierrez Sale to Bayer Leverkusen

Napoli is currently engaged in advanced negotiations to offload Miguel Gutierrez to Bayer Leverkusen. The proposed transfer is valued at €25 million plus additional performance-related bonuses, a move that would provide the Italian club with the necessary capital to pursue Chelsea defender Benoit Badiashile. Because the Partenopei are under transfer limitations this summer, meaning they must sell before any new players can be brought in, the club must finalize player sales before it can invest in new signings.

Multiple Italian sources have confirmed that discussions are accelerating following initial reports from the German newspaper Bild. The 25-year-old Spanish left-back, who is a product of the Real Madrid academy, joined Napoli from Girona last summer for a fee of €18 million plus add-ons. While the potential sale represents a profit for the club, Gutierrez struggled to secure consistent playing time during his tenure, recording only one goal and one assist across 36 competitive appearances last season.

Once the departure of Gutierrez is secured, Napoli plans to address gaps in its central defense. The club is currently managing a defensive shortage caused by the departure of Juan Jesus and an injury to Alessandro Buongiorno. The Serie A side has identified Chelsea's Badiashile as their primary target, with hopes of securing the defender through a loan agreement that includes either an option or an obligation to purchase at the end of the season.
