Ajax has officially confirmed that the club has reached an agreement with Barcelona to sign goalkeeper Marc ter Stegen on loan. The 34-year-old, who has been a fixture at the Camp Nou since 2014, is looking for a fresh start following a challenging period marked by persistent physical issues.
Ter Stegen’s time at Barcelona has been significantly impacted by injuries, causing him to miss a large portion of the last two seasons. With Joan Garcia now established as the primary choice in goal for the Catalan side, Ter Stegen was previously sent on loan to Girona in January. However, his tenure there was short-lived; he suffered a hamstring injury during his second appearance in February, which effectively ended his campaign.
The veteran goalkeeper, who has secured seven La Liga titles and a Champions League trophy during his time with Barcelona, was not selected for Germany's World Cup squad. Despite these recent setbacks, Ter Stegen remains under contract with Barcelona until June 2028.
