Luka Modric has officially committed his future to AC Milan, signing a new contract that will keep him with the Rossoneri until June 2027. The veteran playmaker, who had become a free agent, chose to delay his decision regarding his playing career and his future at the club until the conclusion of the recent tournament.

The Ballon d’Or winner, who is set to celebrate his 41st birthday this September, originally joined the Italian side last summer as a free agent following a legendary 13-year tenure at Real Madrid. Modric has long expressed a deep affinity for Milan, a passion that dates back to his childhood when he followed the progress of Croatian compatriots like Zvonimir Boban at the San Siro.

During his debut season in Italy, Modric proved to be a significant addition to the squad. He recorded 37 competitive appearances, contributing two goals and three assists. His influence was evident as he featured in the starting XI 32 times, a figure that would have been higher had he not suffered a fractured cheekbone during an accidental collision with Juventus player Manuel Locatelli.

Looking ahead to the upcoming campaign, Modric will continue to wear the number 14 jersey under the guidance of new head coach Ruben Amorim.
