Lazio have reportedly approached Benfica to explore a potential loan deal for 22-year-old forward Ivanovic. The Serie A side is seeking a dry loan arrangement, which would not include an option to buy the player permanently. This move comes as the Croatian international looks to secure more consistent playing time following a challenging season in Portugal.
Ivanovic joined Benfica last summer from Union Saint-Gilloise in a deal valued at €22.8m. During his tenure with the Portuguese club, he made 42 competitive appearances, contributing eight goals and two assists. However, he expressed frustration regarding his role, having started in only 13 of those matches. According to transfer expert Alfredo Pedullà, securing regular minutes is the primary objective for the forward as he navigates the next phase of his professional career.
While Lazio are hopeful that they can provide the necessary playing opportunities to attract the player, they face competition for his signature. Other clubs reportedly interested in the centre-forward include Como from Serie A, Turkish Super Lig side Galatasaray, and English club Hull City. Since making his senior debut for Croatia last year, Ivanovic has earned nine caps, recording two goals and one assist for his national team.
