Lazio and FC Porto Target Milan Striker Santiago Gimenez

AC Milan has received formal approaches from both Lazio and FC Porto regarding the availability of striker Santiago Gimenez. The future of the Mexico international at the club appears uncertain, particularly following the arrival of Goncalo Ramos from Paris Saint-Germain, which has left little room for Gimenez in the current squad.

Gimenez was signed from Feyenoord in January 2025 for a fee of €30.2 million plus add-ons. However, his tenure at the club has been difficult, as he has struggled to meet expectations. During his 37 competitive appearances, he recorded seven goals and six assists. His progress was significantly hindered by a serious ankle injury that forced him to undergo surgery in December, causing him to miss a substantial portion of the previous campaign.

Transfer pundit Alfredo Pedullà reports that Lazio is interested in acquiring the centre-forward on a dry loan, meaning no option to buy would be included. Such an arrangement could offer the player consistent playing time in Serie A to help him adapt to the league while potentially boosting his future resale value. Meanwhile, FC Porto has also emerged as a candidate, as the Portuguese club seeks an alternative option following an injury to Samu Aghehowa Omorodion.

Agent Jorge Mendes, who was instrumental in the deal bringing Goncalo Ramos to Milan, is currently helping to coordinate these negotiations. Despite the interest, it remains unclear whether AC Milan will agree to a loan without an obligation to buy at the end of the season, as the club is eager to generate funds through player sales to finance further reinforcements.
