Juventus Consider Teun Koopmeiners Loan to Facilitate Kessié Signing

Juventus are actively looking to facilitate a loan exit for midfielder Teun Koopmeiners as part of a strategic plan to restructure their midfield. The club has reportedly shifted its approach regarding the Dutchman, who has struggled to maintain his position in the pecking order under Luciano Spalletti and has been considered a sellable asset since the current transfer window opened.

With the market for a permanent transfer currently stagnant, Juventus chief executive Giovanni Carnevali and sporting director Frederic Massara are now open to a loan arrangement. This deal would include an option to buy, with the valuation set at a minimum of €21m, which represents his residual value as of June 2027, though the club may seek a higher figure. The primary objective is for Koopmeiners to secure a move, ideally within Serie A, with a return to Atalanta viewed as a natural possibility given his previous success there before joining Juventus under the guidance of current Bergamo sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli.

The financial motivation behind this move is clear, as Juventus aim to create space for the acquisition of Franck Kessié. Crucially, his departure, even on loan, would ease the wage bill and open space for Kessié, a long-standing target for Spalletti. Currently, Koopmeiners represents a cost of approximately €16m per year to the club when factoring in both salary and amortisation. In contrast, Kessié would be available on a free transfer, with a projected gross annual cost of under €10m. This straightforward financial logic is expected to play a critical role in determining the next phase of the Juventus midfield rebuild.

According to calciomercato.com, the Netherlands midfielder has slipped further down Luciano Spalletti’s pecking order and has been on the list of sellable players since the start of the window.
