Real Madrid manager José Mourinho is seeking further reinforcements for his defensive line despite an active summer transfer window at the Bernabeu. The club has already secured the signings of Ibrahima Konaté, Marc Cucurella, and Denzel Dumfries, the latter of whom was recruited from Inter. As Mourinho continues to oversee a major defensive overhaul, reports from AS and CalcioMercato indicate that Alessandro Bastoni remains his preferred target.
Madrid previously pursued Nico Schlotterbeck as their final defensive addition, but that move stalled, leading the club to revisit their interest in Bastoni. The Italy international was linked to the Spanish side earlier in the transfer window during a challenging period for Inter, though the situation had appeared to stabilize since then. Mourinho is now reportedly pushing to bring the defender to Madrid.
Inter, however, have maintained a firm stance regarding the player’s future. Following the same approach they took when dismissing previous interest from Barcelona, the Nerazzurri have stated they will not enter negotiations for any offer below €70m. It remains to be seen whether Real Madrid will meet this valuation, given their significant spending throughout the current window.
