Mourinho’s return to the Santiago Bernabéu is widely interpreted as a move by club president Florentino Perez to restore order and discipline within the dressing room after Los Blancos failed to secure a major trophy over the last two seasons. Addressing the club's television channel, the coach emphasized that his arrival is about more than just results. "Words are not enough because this is like a mission," Mourinho stated. He added that his goal is to help everyone, from players to staff, by creating a culture defined by work, responsibility, and ambition, while fostering an understanding of the honor associated with representing Real Madrid.
The club aims to move past the management difficulties faced last season, which saw coach Xabi Alonso depart in January and a high-profile clash between midfielders Aurelien Tchouameni and Fede Valverde in May that required medical treatment. Furthermore, both Alonso and Arbeloa struggled to balance the star-studded lineup of Kylian Mbappe, Jude Bellingham, and Vinicius Junior.
Drawing on his previous experience at the club between 2010 and 2013, when he challenged Pep Guardiola’s Barcelona, Mourinho reiterated that his presence is driven by a specific philosophy.
